What to Wear to a Wedding

It’s that time of year – wedding season! I personally love going to weddings and am almost guaranteed to cry like a baby, especially if I know the couple well. We only have one more wedding to attend this year, but I thought it would be fun to share some ideas and options for those of you that have weddings throughout the year. I’ve broken it down into four general categories for you:

1. THE MINI

You can totally rock a mini dress to a wedding as long as you keep it classy! If it’s fairly short, choose a shift dress or something with sleeves and avoid anything too tight. You’re not going out in Vegas. ;) If you want something more fitted to show off your curves, just make sure it’s a little longer so you don’t have to worry about flashing anyone. A solid in a bright color or a print are both great options to keep things fun and cheerful. Rule of thumb: avoid short and tight.

2. THE MIDI

Midi dresses are perfect for weddings. They’re feminine, romantic, and flattering. You can dance and move around comfortably and they just kind of float with you. I wore this particular dress to Crystalin’s bridal shower and will be wearing another midi to her wedding. I just can’t get enough!

3. THE MAXI

I feel like maxis have become many people’s go-to for weddings. They’re just so easy and are instantly more dressier than a short summer dress. This one is actually a really casual material so I dressed it up with metallic accessories. The only downside to maxis is that they may get in the way while dancing.

4. THE JUMPSUIT

Jumpsuits are everywhere lately and I love it! In nicer fabrics, they’re great for weddings. They’re also great for chilly weather as you can wear leggings underneath, which is what I did when I wore this to a wedding in February. My tip is to make sure the pant grazes the floor, otherwise you risk looking like you’re wearing floods. The downside to a jumpsuit is that to go to the bathroom, you essentially have to completely naked, which can be tricky and inconvenient if you’re drinking. Word to the wise. ;)
