Although this time of year makes us all want to do nothing more than shop, we typically are looking to purchase things like jackets, boots, coats, and new accessories. Dresses aren’t typically a high priority on my fall shopping list so being able to take my summer dresses into fall is important. Here are a few tips based on this outfit:

+ Layer a regular sweater over a drop waist dress. The bottom of the sweater is likely to match up with the seam where the skirt starts creating a playful silhouette.

+ Pair a crewneck sweater with a collared dress. It’s instant polish and prep.

+ Throw on a leather jacket over the sweater for added warmth and a touch of edge.

+ Incorporate leather in your accessories to take the edginess even further. It balances the sweetness of the pleats, collar, and polka dots.

+ Feel free to add tights and/or socks. Or, if it’s not your style, just stick with the boots.
