To My Mama on Her Birthday
Before your birthday is officially over, I just want to write you a little love note. Wonder Woman may be the ultimate badass, female role model, but she’s got nothin’ on you. I don’t know anyone who can do what you do. You are the ultimate. You are unstoppable. You are my favorite super hero.
When I think about you – and whether it’s reflecting on growing up or just looking back at the past few years – the thing that stands out above all else is feeling loved and adored. Completely. Unconditionally. Always. Whenever I struggle with anything, feel overwhelmed, or need some support – especially when it comes to motherhood – you’re always the person I want to be around. No matter how much I need you, I never feel judged. I never feel inadequate. I never feel apprehensive about sharing. I always feel completely held, loved, and supported.
If there’s one thing I want to give my kids, it’s the kind of love you’ve given me and my siblings…and let’s be honest, countless of our friends. If I can make Talie and any future siblings she may have feel even half as loved as you make me feel, I will be a happy mama. Thank you for giving me the gift of unconditional love – not just because it’s the most amazing experience in the world, but also because you show me how to love my own children every step of the way. You are the ultimate role model. You don’t preach it – you just are it.
You’re adored by countless numbers of people and the love you’ve extended goes wide and deep. You are the most selfless person I know and lately you’ve been extra joyful. It’s contagious and it feels amazing to be around. You just float around with this easiness and effortlessness and I don’t know how you do it. It’s magical.
Thank you for being my mama and for loving me and my little girl and my husband and all my brothers and sisters and our dad and our animals and so many people so deeply. Every time I question how my heart could possibly contain any more love, I just look at you and think Oh that’s how. You’re literally bursting with love.
I love you more than I could ever tell you. Happy birthday, mama.
Love always, Natterbug
