The Little Things

Big Beach, Mendocino

On paper, this year has been the mellowest – besides some travel, it’s had the fewest milestones, achievements, and external indicators of success. Yet, it’s felt like the most transformative and the most rewarding

If parenthood has taught me anything, it’s that the little, everyday moments mean the most.

It’s waking up to Talie’s face and falling asleep with her cuddled between me and Seth. It’s seeing the world through her eyes. It’s watching her grandparents and aunt and uncles interact with her with pure delight on their faces. It’s witnessing my fur child and my human child become best friends. It’s a cup of coffee in the morning and a pair of great jeans that make me invincible. It’s feeling inspired by my husband as he learns new things and explores new interests. It’s having deeper conservations and letting go of so much B.S. It’s learning about myself again. It’s making time for the things that bring me joy. It’s watching my siblings evolve through adulthood. It’s watching my parents love each other in new ways as their children grow up. It’s finding the magic that’s available everyday.

I’ve learned that when I allow myself to feel deep appreciation for the many little things in my life, it builds momentum to the point where I feel like I could burst with love, joy, and gratitude. Everything in life feels as though it’s just as it should be. And the best part is, we all have the ability to feel this every single day in every single moment regardless of our circumstances.

I’m not sure if I’ve ever been more grateful for my day-to-day experience – for the things surrounding me and my current situation. I’m so excited for what’s to come regardless of having no idea what that looks like and I’m so happy and thankful for life exactly as it is right now.

Today, let’s bask in the majesty of our lives and fully allow ourselves to receive the fullness and magic available here and now.

Extending the immense appreciation I’m bubbling over with today to you and wishing you a Happy Thanksgiving from our family to yours!
