The Perfect Summer Sandal
For anyone that doesn’t know, I was a figure skater for over 10 years. One day when I was around 10 or so, I came home from practice with a huge swollen ankle and I had no idea why. It turns out, the arches of my feet are high and collapse when I walk, which meant I needed custom orthotic inserts for my skates. I’ve had orthotics in my skates ever since and although I don’t wear orthotics in my shoes on a daily basis, I do use the over the counter versions in my workout shoes and appreciate shoes with arch support when I can find them. The problem I’ve always found is that most of them are super ugly.
When beek approached me to work together, I was thrilled because all of their sandals have supportive, molded arches AND they’re cute and stylish! (The style I’m wearing above, the Heron, is my favorite, but I also love the Cardinal, Skylark, and Wren.) The sandals are all made entirely of leather so they mold to your foot over time and will last a lifetime. They’re definitely the kind of sandal I’ll have forever, which is a big statement because I’m not sure any of my sandals have ever lasted more than a few years.
I particularly love the lace up pair I’m wearing here because the straps across the foot aren’t adjustable. I have this pair of lace ups from ASOS that are really cute, but because the straps are entirely adjustable (it’s essentially one big lace), putting them on can take awhile. This beek pair is a lot easier for me to deal with bending over with my bump and will be convenient when baby arrives and I need to put my shoes on easily and quickly. You get the lace up style without the hassle of readjusting all the straps to get your foot in. I’m already wearing them with everything and will definitely be utilizing them for a wedding and dressier events this summer when I need a cute shoe and no longer want to deal with wearing heels. They’re the perfect high-quality, go-with-everything sandal.
When it comes to dressing this bump of mine, I have to say I’ve been loving bodysuits. I wasn’t into them at first and probably wouldn’t wear them if I wasn’t pregnant as I tend to veer away from anything tight, but they’re great for highlighting that my bump is actually a baby and not just food! ;) They’re also nice because they don’t come untucked – two thumbs up for convenience! I particularly love them with overalls. Just give me all the functional + stylish + comfy things these days and I’m a happy camper.
Be sure to hop over to the beek site to check out all the different styles and pick up a pair for yourself or someone you love that could use a little spoiling (they’re the perfect Mother’s Day gift)! They’re an investment, but they’ll last forever and are a great shoe for moms or anyone else who needs comfort, quality, ease, and versatility…so basically, everyone. ;) And major bonus, in an effort to help end childhood hunger, beek donates a meal to a child in a need with every purchase. So you can feel really good about where your money is going. Cheers to that!
