Well, hi there! Happy Friday! How are ya?
Seth and I have been on the go as of late. We visited friends in the Murrieta/Temecula area mid-February, visited Crystalin and Mike in Portland the first weekend of April, and just got back from our babymoon down in Santa Barbara and Venice/Santa Monica last night. One of the highlights in between all of this was spending the day in Napa last Saturday with the bareMinerals team!
They put together the most stunning lunch for us to enjoy at Odette Estate where we got to hear a beautiful private performance by American Idol winner Nick Fradiani. Odette is a brand new venue that you should definitely check out if you’re in Napa. I obviously wasn’t able to enjoy the wine, but the food was amazing (and gorgeous, as you can see from the photos) and the decor was what my interior dreams are made of.
Following lunch, we headed over to another Live in the Vineyard event where we got to see Ingrid Michaelson play. I was familiar with a few of her songs, but was pleasantly surprised with how much I enjoyed everything she played, especially her brand new song “Hell No.” She’s also super funny and cool and is the kind of girl you immediately think “I want to be best friends with her!” I’m looking forward to downloading a bunch of her music now.
bareMinerals was kind enough to gift us products from their new skincare line, which I have to say I genuinely love so far. I’ve been using them all week while we were on our babymoon and they make my skin feel so good. My skin can be really finicky while traveling so they were lifesavers while we were gone.
When it comes to all-day events like our day in Napa or even being on the go while traveling like we have lately, I’m learning that achieving glowing skin is greatly helped by 3 things:
1) Skincare. As I get older, I’m constantly being reminded of the importance of taking care of my skin. When I don’t, my skin gets red, irritated, and really dry, which makes covering it with makeup that much more difficult and usually, worse. Finding the right skincare products is always an experiment, but it’s worth taking the time to find the ones that feed your skin what it needs. My skin got really irritated when we traveled down South in February so I’ve been trying to calm it and restore my glow ever since. As I mentioned, this week I’ve been using the bareMinerals Clay Chameleon Transforming Purifying Cleanser, the Skinlongevity Vital Power Infusion Serum, and the Smart Combination Smoothing Lightweight Emulsion and I have to say, I finally feel like my skin has calmed down and my skin is starting to look glowy again. I’m interested to see how I’ll like these products and how they’ll effect my skin over a longer period of time.
2) Hydration. We hear this everywhere for a reason. Drinking lots of water and making sure you’re well-hydrated really does positively affect your skin. I can always tell when I’m not drinking enough because my lips and my face get dry and flaky. I have to admit, seeing how what I put into my body effect my skin is a good incentive to be more intentional about the kinds of things I consume.
3) The right makeup. I recently tried Clinique’s Chubby Foundation Stick and while I really like it (especially the fact that it’s so quick and easy to put on), the one thing I didn’t like was that my skin felt flat and a little dull. I ended up going back to using bareMinerals bareSkin topped with a dusting of their Original foundation. I also started using their Complexion Rescue Mineral Sunscreen which I’m utterly obsessed with. It makes my skin so soft, preps it for makeup, and I love that it’s SPF 50 because I’ve been looking for something to provide some sun protection to my face as we enter the warmer months. I’ll be using it all summer long. There is just something about bareMinerals products that provide my face with a glow that I haven’t been able to find anywhere else.
I’d love to hear if you have any go-to products or strategies for maintaining your glow!
I’m very grateful to be able to spend such a fun day with an amazing brand and lovely ladies. I’m also so grateful for the little trips we’ve been able to take lately. It’s helped scratch my travel itch before baby arrives. We’ll likely be settling in at home until Little B comes in July, but I’ll be sharing photos from Portland and from our babymoon over the next few weeks!
Have a beautiful weekend, you guys!
Thank you to bareMinerals for sponsoring this post, hosting such a fun day, and helping support this space! I really do use their products every single day and couldn’t recommend them more.
