I have a vivid memory of Seth and I walking to grocery store from my parent’s house back in 2005 before we could drive. It was raining, we were sharing a headphone set – one in my ear, one in his – listening to Shinedown’s 45. On the way back, we jumped in all the puddles and I remember having so much fun and being so happy.

Since then, not much has changed and everything has changed all at the same time. We live in Santa Cruz now and have a dog and a baby. But we’re still as happy as we were then, if not happier, and for whatever reason, we still really like taking walks in the rain.

When we moved to Santa Cruz in the winter of 2013, we started taking regular walks when it was cold outside. Don’t get me wrong, we love taking walks anytime. Seth hates the heat, though, so he enjoys walks more when it’s cold out. There’s something cozy about being out when it’s cold and walking to our local coffee shop and grabbing a latte or hot chocolate. Needless to say, cold weather gear is something I’ve acquired more of since living here as it gets chillier and foggier on this side of the hill, especially in the evenings.

Thanks to Gap Factory, we’re all set up for our winter walks and whatever else the holiday season might throw our way. I finally got myself a versatile puffer jacket. I have a navy one but its a bomber style and is fairly lightweight so I’ve always wanted one that’s the classic style with the high neck and that’s a little warmer. This Gap Factory puffer totally fits the bill. It’s so cozy – I’ll be wearing it to death this winter. My favorite part is that the pockets are lined in fleece. As someone whose hands are always freezing, I really appreciate this detail.

I also got Talie her very first puffer jacket! It’s a little big still so she has lots of room to grow into it, but I think it’s the cutest thing ever. I’m slightly obsessed with the tiered ruffles at the bottom. This winter will be her first time joining us on our cold weather walks so this jacket will be perfect for keeping her toasty.

For those of you looking to take advantage of all the Black Friday deals going on, Gap Factory has a lot of great, affordable outerwear options right now whether you’re looking for yourself, for the whole family, or for holiday gifts. And everything is currently on sale! My jacket is 55% off right now. I love it in the floral print. This quilted vest is also amazing for winter and comes in a bunch of different colors – I actually love the hot pink, which is kind of surprising because I usually veer towards neutrals. This utility jacket is a great functional but still stylish jacket for a guy. I might need to buy this toddler sherpa pullover for Talie to wear when she’s big enough to fit in it next winter. Also, the accessories section is filled with scarves, slippers, hats, and gloves that make the perfect gift for almost anyone. So head over to gapfactory.com to stock up and take advantage of the sales. You also get $20 off your $75+ purchase through the weekend with code GFTWENTY!

Happy shopping and happy weekend, everyone!
