August Love List
Well, hey stranger! How have you been? How is it the end of summer already?! Time has been flying over here in our little baby bubble. You may have seen on Instagram or Snapchat (nataliecomstock) that we welcomed our little lady, Talie, into the world on July 24th! I’ll be introducing her and will be sharing all about that in a couple of upcoming posts, but first I wanted to kick off a monthly favorites series. I always find myself loving certain things every month, but don’t always get around to sharing so I thought a monthly round up would be perfect for sharing current favorites all in one place. So here we go!
When it comes to documenting Talie’s first moments and monuments of her childhood, I know I’m not likely to keep up with something that requires a lot of time like compiling a scrapbook. I’m also super picky when it comes to aesthetics so I don’t like a lot of pre-done options out there, but I really do want to keep a record so my initial thought was to simply keep a regular journal. Thankfully, I recently came across Promptly Journals on Instagram and am so, so happy I did. They make super clean and simple journals that make the documentation process a whole lot less daunting.
My favorite thing, beyond the clean look, is that the journal contains simple and straightforward prompts for each stage of life from pregnancy through 18 years. The amount of prompts is perfect so you feel like everything is covered but you’re not overwhelmed with a million questions (and thus never actually answer them). I also love that there is plenty of blank space at the end of each section to jot down anything outside of the prompts you want to remember. I’m a huge fan and will be gifting these to all my pregnant friends from now on.
bareMinerals Gen Nude Radiant Lipstick and Liquid Lipcolor
The only lip colors I’ve been wearing lately are bareMinerals Gen Nude Radiant Lipstick and Matte Liquid Lipcolors. bareMinerals kindly sent me a few colors to try and I’ve been hooked since. The lipstick is so nice and creamy and magically doesn’t dry out my lips like every other lipstick I have does. The matte liquid lipcolor is my favorite because it doesn’t leave my lips feeling sticky and isn’t sheer. I love the shades of subtle pinks and nudes – they are all very natural looking. My favorite colors are Nudist and Heaven in the lipstick and Slay and Friendship in the liquid lip color.
When it comes to baby products, Seth and I have been pretty particular about making sure everything is as natural as possible. When it came to choosing diapers, I was leaning towards Honest, but after my friend Meg told me about Parasol, I was immediately convinced I wanted to use them…so much so that I reached out to them and am now proud to be an affiliate.
Their diapers are the perfect marriage between being eco-friendly/natural/non-toxic and stylish and cute. So far Talie has responded really well to both the diapers and wipes (the wipes smell really good) so we will be continuing to use them. If you have any interest in giving them a try, you can use the code NATALIEDRESSED at checkout or click through this link to get 20% off your first order.
I’ve decided that I love that chokers are back. The look has really grown on me so I picked up the four below from ASOS and am loving them. ASOS is a great place to stock up on a few and try out the trend without spending a lot. Plus, they have a really good selection right now.
Cocokind Organic Skincare
Keeping up with the whole using natural and organic products as much as possible, I’ve recently been loving Cocokind products. Talie’s skin peeled a lot after she was born so we’d slather her in the Baby Organic Soothing Salve and it has helped a lot and keeps her really skin really soft. I’ve been using the Rosewater Facial Toner before my moisturizer and the Facial Repair Serum at night or over my daily moisturizer when I’m feeling extra dry and have been loving both. They’ve kept my skin feeling fresh and really hydrated. I’m interested in trying the Eye Firming Oil and Chlorophyll Mask.
Zeel Massage On Demand
This might be my favorite recent discovery. Zeel is an app that allows you to book a same-day, at-home massage with a licensed massage therapist. Genius, right? In an oddly synchronistic series of events, Zeel kindly offered me a complimentary massage so I could share the experience with you guys. It was synchronistic because I had heard of Zeel a month or so prior and downloaded it, but wasn’t sure if it was available in Santa Cruz so I didn’t book anything. A few weeks after having Talie, I thought how perfect the app would be because I’ve been having terrible back pain from bad posture/my body adjusting to nursing and holding her all the time and desperately needed a massage but wasn’t ready to leave her. About a week after having that thought is when Zeel reached out. Thank you, Universe!
The great thing about the app is that all the therapists are background checked and licensed so I didn’t feel uncomfortable having someone come to the house. My therapist was named Lori and she was awesome. She asked me some questions beforehand to determine if I was having any problems in specific areas and after the massage she even made some suggestions for things I could do to help the pain in between massages. Overall, the experience was top notch. Timing was spot on, the massage itself was wonderful, and Lori was very kind and made me feel very comfortable. It’s perfect for everyone, but especially for new moms not ready to leave their baby yet. Zeel is available in the Bay Area and for those of you on this side of the hill like me, Zeel launches in Santa Cruz and Monterey County today! If you’re in another area, you can see if the service is available near you here.
That’s about it for now! I’m going to try to post again later this week with an update on Talie and how we’ve been adjusting to life as parents.
Happy Monday, friends!
