Product Review: Alchimie Forever Kantic Calming Cream

Product Review: Alchimie Forever Kantic Calming Cream | Natalie Dressed

Alchimie Forever kindly sent me their Kantic Calming Cream to try out at the beginning of July. I wanted to use it for a few weeks before giving a review (because we all know it takes at least a week or two to see if you really like a skincare product), but I’ve ended up using it morning and night for the past two months. Basically, it’s become my everyday face cream.

I was most worried about it not being hydrating enough (I was using Weleda Skin Food before), but it actually has been very hydrating without being oily at all. It’s also light and fluffy, smooths on easily, and absorbs in quickly. Good packaging lets me keep it on display too. ;)

When it comes to reducing redness, it definitely doesn’t get rid of the rosacea (no cream ever has – if you find the one that does, let me know!), but it does exactly what it’s name says – calms. My face is always bright red after I shower and I find that once I apply the Kantic Calming Cream and let it sit for a bit, my redness definitely chills out and calms down.

I totally didn’t expect this, and I think it’s kind of a funny thing to favor in a face cream, but the scent is my favorite part. It’s light and fresh and reminds me of being in a spa. I feel like it’s kind of ridiculous to respond so strongly to a scent of something you use everyday, but I just love it. It seriously makes me feel like I’m pampering myself. And the best part is, my skin seems to love this stuff. When a product is fragrant, my skin doesn’t always respond well and will often get little red spots. Thankfully, that hasn’t happened at all with this cream.

I can’t think of anything I don’t like about this cream. I’m really interested in trying the Kantic+ Intensely Nourishing Cream to see if I like even more moisture. I also want to give their Gentle Cream Cleanser a try as I have yet to find a face cleanser I really like.

An added bonus is that the cream is made without parabens, animal byproducts, dyes, phthalates, sulfates, gluten, soy, mineral oil, propylene glycol, formaldehyde and formaldehyde releasers, or animal testing. I’m not a clean product junkie (yet – I’m still focused on getting my food right), but I’m always eager to try cleaner products and will buy the cleaner ones over the regular ones if I have a choice.

This cream is on the pricier side compared to what I normally spend on skincare products so I’m going to have to decide whether to buy more when I run out (I have about a half to a third of the bottle left). I’d say the price is worth it and it would be hard to go back to another cream, but I can’t say I’d splurge without hesitation. Not because of the product, but because it’s outside my normal price range.

What’s your favorite face cream? And what’s your normal price range for skincare products? I’m always curious about how other people prioritize skincare.

Happy Wednesday to you!
