Today marks my entrance into the third trimester of pregnancy! How crazy is that? (This photo was taken a few weeks ago.) The beginning felt like it dragged by, but now it feels like time has flown. Seth and I talk all the time about how anxious, antsy, and excited we are to meet our daughter, but at the same time I know the next three months are going to pass us by in the blink of an eye and that we should enjoy them as much as possible.
There isn’t a whole lot to update regarding the pregnancy itself, which although uneventful, is good news. Little B is healthy and growing like she should be! I feel pretty good overall. The one thing that’s been the hardest for me is this very specific pain in the back of my ribs. It flares up during the second half of the day usually and when it’s really bad, causes my whole upper back to tighten and lock up. I think it might be a tendon or ligament or something that’s caused by posture and/or the relaxin and looser ligaments. I could be totally wrong, but heat packs and massages seem to help. I’m just starting to get to the point of experiencing discomfort because of my belly. When I eat a lot, it can definitely be tight and uncomfortable and bending over is becoming more difficult! I definitely don’t feel as agile as I used to, which is kind of a strange feeling. I also started experiencing some heartburn over the past two weeks, but it hasn’t been terrible, thankfully. As for sleep, I’ve been sleeping well the majority of the time and almost always through the night so I’m super grateful for that. The only real bad news we’ve had so far is that I failed my 1 hour glucose test, which is a bummer, but apparently is common. I have to go take the 3 hour test tomorrow so wish me luck! All the good vibes are appreciated. ;)
We’ve been working a lot on the house lately. Nesting is a very real thing, people! We’ve moved my desk into the living room and finally got a big wall wardrobe for our bedroom so I could move all my clothes and shoes into our bedroom. Beyond the actual transition of the office into a nursery, we’re working on getting rid of excess and making sure everything is organized and has a home. One of the things that has driven me nuts is that we always have these little piles of things that have no real home that just get moved from one area of the house to another so my goal is to eliminate that – everything needs a home or it needs to get tossed/donated. We are very limited on space so we’re trying to be super intentional with what we buy and the amount of baby stuff we accumulate. We’re trying to keep things as simple as possible and focus on the essentials! It’s all very much still a work in progress, but we’re getting closer and closer every week. I’m excited for what these next few months hold. I know I’m going to experience more discomfort as my belly grows, but I’m trying to enjoy the process as much as possible. Our shower is just over a week away so pretty soon we’ll be going through all the baby gear, getting organized, finishing up the nursery, and figuring out what we need and don’t need. It’s all very exciting and moving very quickly so I’m trying to be very present and enjoy each and every day. One thing is for sure, I’m so thankful for a helpful, supportive husband because I couldn’t imagine doing this with anyone else. He has been my rock and my sanity.
If any of you mamas out there have any advice as I enter the 3rd trimester, please leave a comment because my ears are wide open! Have a beautiful weekend!
